Towcestrians Sports Club Case Study for Cricket Facility Fencing Project

Background

Over the last 24 months, Towcestrians Sports Club has been developing a brand-new cricket facility to support both adult and junior cricket within the local community, including residents from the Greens Norton area. The aim of the project was to create a high-quality cricket environment that would benefit current and future generations of players.

Specific Need

As the project neared completion, the club identified the need for perimeter fencing around the new facility. The fencing was required to improve safety and security for players, spectators and other users of the site. It was also necessary to protect visitors from the drop down the banking towards the flood plain surrounding the ground.

The Grant Process

To fund this final stage of the development, Towcestrians Sports Club applied to the Greens Norton Trust for support. The Trust awarded a grant of £6,500 towards the purchase and installation of fencing around the cricket square.

Following submission of the grant application, the club obtained independent quotations and selected a preferred supplier to undertake the works. Towcestrians were pleased to appoint local supplier Linnells to provide the fencing. Within one month of the grant being approved, contractors had been appointed and installation commenced in November 2024.

Outcome

The additions funded by the grant made a clear impact. The 2025 show was a huge success, with strong The fencing project was completed successfully, enabling the facility to become fully operational. The new fencing provides important safety and security around the cricket square and surrounding banking, while also enhancing the overall appearance of the facility.

Members have been extremely pleased with the finished result, which has helped create an outstanding cricket environment for the local community. The completed facility will support cricket participation and enjoyment for many years to come.
