Case Study

Greens Norton Village Show Society

Background

The Greens Norton Village Show is a valued community event that celebrates local talent and produce. It showcases items such as flowers, art, crafts, preserves, bakery goods, photography, and more. The show also brings together key village groups including The Royal British Legion, St Bartholemew Church, Greens Norton School, The Butcher’s Arms, and the Parish Council. All of these benefit through fundraising, promotion, and deeper engagement with local residents.

Specific Need

In 2025, the Greens Norton Village Show Society (GNVSS) committee focused on enriching and expanding the show’s appeal. To support this, the committee needed funding to buy gazebos and promotional materials – items that could not be covered by existing show funds. These resources were essential for improving the event’s facilities, attracting more participants, and enabling a broader range of entertainment and refreshments.

The Grant Process

To meet these needs, the GNVSS committee applied to the fund for financial support. The grant enabled the purchase of gazebos and promotional materials, which directly strengthened the committee’s ability to develop the show and increase community involvement.

Outcome

The additions funded by the grant made a clear impact. The 2025 show was a huge success, with strong growth in both entries and attendance compared with the previous year.

  • 2025: 79 exhibitors and about 305 exhibits
  • 2024: 59 exhibitors and 210 exhibits

This uplift has motivated the committee to plan further developments for 2026. GNVSS also expressed heartfelt thanks to the Greens Norton Village Hall Trust for their generous support in helping the show thrive.
