Case Study
Greens Norton Royal British Legion Club – Outside Shed
Background
The roof on the outside shed of the British Legion Club had started to leak, but this wasn’t spotted until damp started to appear and it shorted the electrics… which is never a good thing. The shed, which stores the Club’s spare furniture and Poppy Appeal and Remembrance articles, was suddenly not fit for purpose.
Specific Need
We needed to get the roof replaced and potentially much of the side wood panelling replaced depending on the levels of damp.
We had 3 local tradesmen look at the shed and provide their suggested solution to our problem together with their best quotes… Ouch!!
The Grant Process
Knowing about the Village Trust, we turned to them to see if we could get any financial help with the repairs. We tendered our application along with best quote using the downloadable application form from the website.
After the Village Trust reviewed the application, we soon heard back that we had been successful and would receive a grant to make the repairs.
Outcome
The new roof, door and restored wood panelling was completed at the end of the Summer and with the electrics safe to put back on, the shed is back in full use. We, at the Greens Norton Royal British Legion are extremely grateful to the Greens Norton Village Trust for considering and approving our application.
We would recommend any club, group or individual with a viable proposition to consider applying.
